Critical Analysis — What This Bill Actually Does
Replaced the Canadian Environmental Assessment Act with the Impact Assessment Act and created the Canadian Energy Regulator. Fundamentally restructured how major resource projects are approved. Critics argued it gave the federal government veto power over provincial resource development and made pipeline construction effectively impossible.
